Do you think this sounds like how you should treat a person? The police showed no remorse when women were arrested. 

The women would be picked up and carried away form the White House. The women wanted to go to jail because this created more media for the cause. Force feeding occurred when they refused to eat. Hunger strikes were common for the women. The police and guards would force them to eat with tubes. Alice Paul says, "Twice the tube came through my mouth and I got it between my teeth. My mouth was then pried open with an instrument. Sometimes they tied me to a chair with sheets.”
